Palak dal

Palak dal
This is a healthy dal option made using palak. Simple recipe as well. For recipe of other dal option see Dal makhani
Ingredients
Palak - 2 cups finely chopped
Toor dal - 1 cup
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Green chilli - 3 vertically slit
Onion - 1 finely chopped
Tomato - 2 finely chopped
Ginger - 1 inch
Garlic - 10 cloves
Salt - for taste
For seasoning
Ghee or butter - 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Asofoetida - 1 pinch
Red chilli - 2
Method
Boil the toor dal in pressure cooker with turmeric powder. Boil It for 3 whistles. In a mortar and pestle make paste of ginger and garlic. Take a pan with a tsp of ghee. Saute the ginger garlic paste. Once it is sauted add finely chopped onions and saute it till golden brown. Add the chopped tomatoes. Heat it till they are fully mashed. Add the green chillies. Add the chopped palak and little water. Let the palak cook. Add the boiled dal. Mash it well. Add salt for taste.
Now take the seasoning kadai with ghee. Heat it. Add mustard and jeera seeds. Allow it to splutter. Add the red chilli and asofoetida.
Add this seasoning to the dal.
Serve hot with rice.
