Curry leaves rice (karuveppilai saadam)
Curry leaves are very healthy as they are rich in iron. They help to prevent hairfall. Here there is a mixed rice recipe with curry leaves. No onion, no garlic recipe. Can be taken as picnic lunch as it doesn't get spoiled fast (if you don't add coconut). The powder can be made and kept so that you can prepare this instantaneously. Ingredients
Rice - 2 cup boiled
For roasting and powdering
Curry leaves - 1 cup loosely packed
Urad dal - 5 tsp
Tamarind - a small lemon sized
Red chilli - 4 to 5
Oil - for roasting
For seasoning
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Chana dal - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Method
First roast all the items under For roasting and making powdering. After cooling, powder it using a mixie.
Take a wide mouthed tawa. Put one spoon of oil. Add mustard seeds, urad dal and chana dal. Once they are roasted add turmeric powder and the curry leaves powder. Leave it for a minute. Add rice. Mix only when it is cool
